How do you attract the attention of people in another hemisphere? That’s what the Argentina Convention and Visitors Bureau wanted to accomplish: Create awareness of Argentina in the US and Canada, focusing on the Latin country’s fun and lively culture, including outdoor adventures, awe-inspiring nature, authentic culture, and gourmet food.
The CVB had a new global campaign slogan—“Argentina Beats to your Rhythm”— they wanted to leverage to gain awareness among North American travelers and entice them to come down for a visit.
For their first advertising campaign with Expedia, the Argentina CVB placed display ads and core offers throughout the Flights, Hotels, Destinations and Vacation Packages Tabs on Expedia.com and Expedia.ca, promoting a special 30 percent savings offer. The ads were geo-targeted to origin cities in Florida, New York, California, Texas, New Jersey and Illinois. In addition, the Argentina CVB created a custom microsite on Expedia.com, with rich descriptions of the country’s attractions and highlighting the 30 percent savings.
The Argentina CVB grew faster than any other South American destination on Expedia.ca during their campaign. For their first time advertising with Expedia, the campaign has been judged a success. They have seen a 22% growth in bookings since the campaign began.
7.5 million ad impressions across the sites drove 26,600 unique visitors to the campaign landing page with an astounding click-through-rate of 2.07%.
