Travelers searching for hotels in the popular Dominican Republic were often faced with an overabundance of choices in the online travel space. For hotels with small-scale marketing budgets, the challenge was to find a novel way to rise above all the hotel choices and increase their market share. A group of eleven hotels proactively came together to maximize their buying power and partner with Expedia Media Solutions to turn those lookers into bookers.
The hotels were aware of the Billboard Effect that Expedia is able to provide—generating greater brand visibility, increased traffic, and more bookings for suppliers.
Expedia Media Solutions created a campaign promoting a Dominican Republic Getaway Sale with savings of up to 45%. The eight week campaign on Expedia.com included display ads and a custom-designed landing page featuring the eleven participating hotels. The dedicated landing page showcased details and photos for each hotel, daily room rates and special flight + hotel package deals, providing extra savings for customers.
Throughout the campaign, display banners ads were rotated on the Expedia home page and search results pages.
As a group, the eleven hotels were able to nearly double their bookings. They were also able to realize an increase in the average Daily Rate (ADR) for room nights.
